Counselling children and young people can help them to understand and deal with issues that they are facing. It aims to help young people to deal with overwhelming problems by breaking them down into smaller parts, to change negative patterns, break the cycle and improve the way they feel and perspectives on life.

Counselling offers children and young people a space to talk about their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment enabling them to feel heard and trust the process. It helps them to share any worries or problems they may have and to build their confidence and self-esteem. It can be difficult for children and/or young people to be able to talk to parents or family members about what they are thinking and feeling.  Talking to someone outside of the family can help your child to build trust, feel heard, and feel safe whilst learning to gain coping strategies and make sense of the world they live in.

I hold post graduate qualifications in Special Needs and I have worked with students with symptoms or diagnosis across a wide range of needs including ADHD and/or ASD for many years. I understand the difficulties that that are often faced, particularly when negotiating school, peers and busy modern lives.

​

I also have a post graduate qualification in Play Therapy. Creativity and Play has therapeutic benefits for all ages (including adults!) as our emotions and feelings cannot always be expressed through words alone.
